Our Team

Markus Bauer is a mechanical engineer, specializing in prototype and product development of precision opto-mechanical and electro-mechanical systems. Markus holds a Diplom-Ingenieur degree (equivalent to a M.S. in mechanical engineering) from RWTH Aachen, and a Ph.D. in mechanical engineering from N.C State University.

His work experience ranges from Scynexis, Inc. (lab automation for a pharmaceutical company), to Philips Applied Technologies (precision mechatronics prototype devices including a 6 DOF MagLev stage for semiconductor applications), to QED Technologies (stitching interferometer and polishing equipment). Over the past decade, Markus has completed diverse projects utilizing and expanding his skills and experience in system engineering, precision mechanical design, mounting optical components and Finite Element Analysis (static, dynamic, thermal and non-linear).
